2024年注定将成为这个时代不平凡的一年。在大数据(Big Data)、人工智能(AI)、云计算(Cloud Computing)、无人驾驶(Autonomous Driving)等新兴技术快速发展背景下,新质生产力(New Quality Productive Forces)成为各界关注热词。“大力推进现代化产业体系建设,加快发展新质生产力”写入我国政府工作报告,并被列为2024年政府首要工作任务。新质生产力是技术创新起主导作用,摆脱传统经济增长方式与生产力发展路径,具备高科技、高效能、高质量特征,符合新发展理念的先进生产力质态。通用人工智能的颠覆性进展为产业革命和时代变革带来新的契机。从哲学维度和历史纵深理解农业领域的新质生产力,一定是以光和AI作为颠覆传统农业和现代农业的技术内驱力,故生物光学与智慧农业将是未来农业产业化发展的新质生产力。大家一定会惊讶为什么这样讲吧?
众所周知,地球上所有生物生存或生命运动的能量来源于光,来自于光合转化的生物能源。天才发明家特斯拉于1899年接受访谈时说“一切都是光”,即万物来源于光,所有的物质都能从光里产生。麦克斯韦电磁方程证明:光既是一种粒子,也是一种电磁波,是能量的传播形式。爱因斯坦质能方程告诉我们:光、能量与质量可以互换,若以光速旅行则时间停止,但光速旅行所需能量无穷大,故人类不可能使时间停止。光是世界的基础,是宇宙最基本的组成部分之一。1929年,美国加州理工学院的中国研究生赵忠尧利用硬γ射线的高能量光子束轰击重金属铅,发现了正负电子相撞产生的湮灭光即“反物质”,证实了正反物质相撞就会产生光。2021年,位于纽约长岛的布鲁克海文国家实验室使用两个金离子在同一直线上以99.995%的光速向相反的方向移动,相互通过时围绕离子的电磁云中的光子相撞在一起,奇迹般地出现了物质(正负电子对),从而证明光可以生成物质。宇宙从无到有,世界万物从虚空中出现,所有的物质都是通过光产生的。所以,一切都是光,从光的角度理解生物、理解万物,将是未来人类社会对自然和世界的更深认知。
四次工业革命创造了巨大生产力,实现了从传统农业社会转向现代工业社会的重要变革。我们把1980年到2040年按康德拉季耶夫周期理论分为三个周期:1980年到2000年作为计算机周期,我国在科技、产业及经济领域严重滞后于欧美国家,大力发展了中低端制造业;2000年到2020年是互联网周期,我国出现了数家互联网巨头大力推动技术转型,高端制造业实现了技术突破,能与美国并驾齐驱;2020年到2040年可以称其为AI周期,2030年前将是中美两国在各种高端产业的追赶和超越竞赛,这将决定2030-2040年谁来主导全球产业技术经济发展。我国是农业大国但并不是农业强国。14亿人的饭碗如何端在中国人手里的话题,绝不是用遥遥领先的SCI论文和发明专利数量来支撑的,而是用脚踏实地的生产效率、能源效率、劳动效率的定量翻倍增长实现真正的技术突破,为农业产业的新质生产力插上科技腾飞的翅膀和新型生产模式的颠覆,从而全面解决我国农业卡脖子和工业化问题。
继2023年生物光学与智慧农业产业国际论坛成功举办之后,赵春江院士领衔的中国农业机械化协会智慧农业发展分会将于2024年6月9-12日在位于广州的广交会展馆举办2024年生物光学与智慧农业国际论坛。该国际论坛由中国农业大学、中国农业机械化协会、广州光亚法兰克福展览有限公司联合主办,广东省农业技术推广总站与农业农村部设施农业工程重点实验室协办,由广东省农业农村厅、华南农业大学、北京润生农村发展公益基金会提供技术支持。国际论坛将有5位院士与20多位国内外知名专家从生物光学、植物工厂、设施园艺、畜牧工程、智能农机、无人化农场等领域介绍如何建设智慧农业以发展新质生产力。国际论坛以“跨界融合•未来农业”为关键词,聚焦AI技术应用与“光+生物+未来”,为光电与AI技术的农业应用场景提供解决方案,欢迎国内外同行和企业积极参会并参与交流讨论。国际论坛还将安排一场无人化植物工厂与智能温室的专业之旅,让参会者感受珠三角的技术活力。

Message for 2024 International Forum on Bio-optics and Smart Agriculture
The year 2024 is destined to be a watershed moment in the field of Bio-optics and Smart Agriculture. As new emerging technologies such as Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud Computing, and Autonomous Driving continue to evolve at an unprecedented pace, New Quality Productive Forces have become a hot topic of discussion among various fields. The phrase "Vigorously promote the construction of a modern industrial system and accelerate the development of new quality productive forces" has been included in the work report of the Chinese government and has been listed as the primary government task in 2024. With technological innovations playing the leading role, New Quality Productive Forces represent an advanced productivity approach that is freed from traditional economic growth mode and productivity development paths. New Quality Productive Forces feature high-tech, high efficiency and high quality, and come in line with the new development philosophy. The groundbreaking advancement of AI in general has brought new opportunities for revolutionizing industry and transforming society. From a philosophical and historical perspective, we must recognize the transformative power of light and AI as the driving forces behind a revolution in traditional and modern agriculture. Therefore, bio-optics and smart agriculture will be the New Quality Productive Forces for the future agricultural industrialization. This assertion may raise eyebrows but let me elaborate.
As is widely understood, the energy that sustains all living organisms on Earth, including their life processes, originates from sunlight and is harnessed through the process of photosynthesis, converting light to bioenergy. During an interview in 1899, the genius inventor Tesla famously proclaimed "everything is light", meaning that all matter originates from light and all matter can be produced from light. Maxwell's electromagnetic equation proves that light is both a particle and an electromagnetic wave and is a form of energy propagation. Einstein's mass energy equation tells us that light, energy, and mass are not separate entities, but interchangeable. When traveling at the speed of light, time stops, but the energy required to achieve the speed of light is infinite, therefore humans cannot stop time. Light is the foundation of the world and one of the most fundamental components of the universe. In 1929, a Chinese graduate student, Zhongyao Zhao, from the California Institute of Technology utilized a high-energy photon beam of X-rays to bombard heavy metal lead and discovered the annihilation light produced by the collision of positive and negative electrons, also known as "antimatter", and confirming that the collision of positive and negative matter produces light. In 2021, the Brookhaven National Laboratory in Long Island, New York, used two gold ions moving in opposite directions at 99.995% of the speed of light on the same trajectory line. When the two ions passed through each other, photons from the electromagnetic cloud surrounding the ions collided, miraculously creating matter (positive and negative electron pairs), proving that light can generate matter. The universe grows from nothing to existence, and all things in the world emerge from the void. All matter is produced through light. Therefore, everything is light, and understanding life and the universe from the perspective of light will be a path towards a deeper understanding of nature and the world for future human society.
The four industrial revolutions have created enormous productivity and achieved significant changes from a traditional agricultural society to a modern industrial society. We divide the period from 1980 to 2040 into three cycles according to the Kondratieff cycle theory. From 1980 to 2000, known as the computer cycle, China lagged behind European and American countries in terms of technology, industry, and economy, and vigorously developed the middle and low-end manufacturing industries. Between the years 2000 to 2020, or the internet cycle, several internet giants have emerged in China to vigorously promote technological transformation. The high-end manufacturing industry has achieved technological breakthroughs and can now keep pace with the United States. The period from 2020 to 2040 can be called the AI cycle. Before 2030, there will be a competition between China and the United States to catch up and surpass in various high-end industries, which will determine who will lead the global industrial, technological, and economic development from 2030 to 2040. China is a major agricultural country, but not a strong one. The question of how to ensure food security for 1.4 billion people is not about boasting about a staggering number of SCI-indexed papers and invention patents. Instead, it demands a genuine technological breakthrough achieved through doubling the production efficiency, energy efficiency, and labor efficiency in agriculture. This necessitates injecting innovative technologies and transformative production models into the agricultural sector to comprehensively address the bottleneck and industrialization problems faced by China's agriculture.
Following the successful conclusion of the 2023 International Forum on Bio-optics and Smart Agriculture, the Smart Agriculture Development Branch of the China Agricultural Mechanization Association, led by Academician Chunjiang Zhao , will host the 2024 International Forum on Bio-optics and Smart Agriculture at the exhibition hall of Canton Fair in Guangzhou from June 9 to 12, 2024. This International Forum is jointly organized by China Agricultural University, China Agricultural Mechanization Association, and Guangzhou Guangya Frankfurt Exhibition Co., Ltd. It is co-organized by Guangdong Provincial Agricultural Technology Promotion Station and the Key Laboratory of Agriculture Engineering in Structure and Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Technical support is provided by Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Guangdong Provincial, South China Agricultural University, and Beijing Runsheng Foundation for Rural Development. The International Forum will feature presentations by 5 academicians and over 20 renowned experts from China and abroad, covering topics from bio-optics, plant factories, protected horticulture, animal husbandry engineering, intelligent agricultural machinery, and unmanned farms, all aimed at exploring approaches to building smart agriculture and fostering a new area of New Quality Productive Forces. The International Forum focuses on the application of AI technology and "Light + Biology + Future" with the keyword "Cross-border Integration • Future Agriculture", providing solutions for the agricultural application scenarios of optoelectronics and AI technology. We warmly welcome colleagues and enterprises from China and abroad to actively participate in the conference and engage in discussions. The International Forum will also arrange a specialized tour of unmanned plant factories and smart greenhouses, allowing participants to experience the technological vibrancy of the Pearl River Delta region.
The 2024 International Forum on Bio-optics and Smart Agriculture will be a grand gathering for the smart agriculture industry, as well as a pivotal event for fostering collaboration among academia, industry, and research institutions in the realm of future-oriented controlled environment agriculture. Let us work together, achieve a win-win cooperation, and create a better future.
